CWA Summit

COVID-19 Policy Information:

The CWA is dedicated to the health and safety of all attendees at the CWA Summit while ensuring that face-to-face business and education still take place.

We are carefully monitoring the guidance issued by the CDC, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the City of Pittsburgh, and the David L. Lawrence Convention Center regarding COVID-19. Requirements of attendance are subject to change based on that guidance. Attendees should adhere to the following best practices:

  • Stay home if you are sick or have any symptoms of COVID-19 (including any variants of COVID-19) and get tested for COVID-19. In the case of testing positive immediately prior to the event, please reach out regarding our refund policy.

  • Those who are not fully vaccinated and/or have been in close contact with someone with a confirmed case of COVID-19 should quarantine and get tested for COVID-19.

  • All participants, including, but not limited to, attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, CWA staff, service providers, and others are expected to abide by our policies and respect the comfort level of other attendees.

  • Masks are optional at the event, but the CWA will have masks on hand for those who wish to wear one.

  • While indoors and near others, please respect physical distancing as recommended by the CDC.

  • Cover coughs and sneezes and wash hands often.

CWA Summit

Responsible Drinking Culture:

Attendees of the CWA Summit are encouraged to make positive decisions regarding their personal consumption of alcohol. To support all members of our community, the CWA will offer non-alcoholic options during all receptions, including access to water.


Ethical Business Practices:

The CWA does not allow for any sort of suit casing or carpetbagging during the CWA Summit. Any attendee who solicits or sells products or services to other attendees without being registered as an exhibitor with proper authorization and credentials will be subject to removal from the event and additional penalties. All business will be conducted with honesty, fairness, and transparency.


General Refund Policy:

Registration fees for the CWA Summit are not transferable to persons outside of your organization or to subsequent events. Requests for cancellations or transfers must be made in writing to the CWA no later than April 11th, 2023. Cancellation requests are not guaranteed to be fulfilled. If you cancel your registration prior to February 15th, 2023, you may be entitled to a 95% refund of your conference registration payment. If you cancel your registration after February 15th but before April 11th, 2023, you may be entitled to a 75% refund of your conference registration payment. Pre-conference fees will be forfeited. No refunds after April 11th, 2023, and no refunds for no-shows, unless approved in writing by the CWA.


COVID-19 Refund Policy:

We want you to feel comfortable attending the conference and attend only if you are feeling well. If you need to cancel your registration due to a COVID-19 diagnosis, we will issue a partial refund. In the event that an attendee receives a positive diagnosis of COVID-19 between May 4th and 17th, 2023, they will be eligible for a 75% refund. The CWA cannot refund any out-of-pocket expenses stemming from a COVID-19 diagnosis, including, but not limited to, transportation, lodging, or meals.

2023 CWA Summit Code of Conduct


While engaged in activities facilitated by or involving the 2023 CWA Summit, on and off-premises of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, we require all guests, speakers, media, volunteers, and staff members to adhere to the following:


Ground Rules


  1. Refrain from using speech that could be interpreted as homophobic, transphobic, sexist, racist, religious hatred, or otherwise discriminatory.  This extends to the Internet, as well as the CWA Summit app.

  2. No intimidation, bullying, or harassment toward anyone for any reason.

  3. No offensive, suggestive, lewd, or intentionally uncomfortable behavior, materials, or language will be accepted.

  4. No illegal activities or substances will be tolerated on or off premises.

  5. We expect our guests to embody our values of acceptance of people from all walks of life and all corners of the globe.

  6. Equal respect will be given to all guests gathered, despite roles, responsibilities, or credentials.

  7. All guests will approach interactions with one another with patience, empathy, and understanding.

  8. No interrupting, distracting, or otherwise derailing speakers, presenters, panelists, staff, or volunteers.

  9. Request permission to photograph booths, guests, or speakers outside of conference sessions. Be mindful that not everyone appreciates being photographed.


Be a Good Neighbor


  1. Participate and engage with speakers, guests, and staff.

  2. Be mindful of the space you take up when engaging with others in sessions.

  3. Speak up when you feel that someone unintentionally said or did something uncomfortable or offensive.

  4. Peacefully and respectfully stand up for others if you notice someone intentionally causing harm and help alert necessary parties of the behavior.

  5. Bring your full self and energy to the CWA Summit. It’s been too long!


What To Do If You Experience or Notice a Violation of This Code of Conduct


  1. Please immediately alert a member of the CWA staff or volunteer, who will then escalate the issue. If an issue involves a staff or volunteer member, please reach out to Paula Horwitz, CWA Executive Director.

  2. If you experience a form of discrimination online, please record the individual’s social media account, email address, etc. If you feel comfortable, capture a screenshot of the online activity.
