What is the weather like in Utah in May? What should I pack?
The weather in Utah can be unpredictable. A sunny day can quickly turn into rain, snow, or even hail, especially in May. We recommend packing a good mix of warm and cold weather layers. It's also a good idea to keep an eye on the forecast leading up to the event.
I already registered, but I need to change some of my information.
After registration, you will receive a registration confirmation e-mail. You can access your registration through your login on the CWA website. If you're unable to make the changes you need through our online portal, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or 720-838-8284.

Why did the CWA choose Salt Lake City for its 2022 CWA Summit?
As the CWA’s selected location to host the 2022 CWA Summit, Salt Lake City offers many new and exciting opportunities, including ample space for exhibits and programming, improved access to dining and entertainment, and easier travel logistics.
In addition, the climbing community in Utah (and Salt Lake City specifically) is incredibly active and engaged. There are four world-class indoor climbing facilities located within a short drive of the conference center. Salt Lake is also home to USA Climbing, as well as many industry vendors and organizations.
The stronger the climbing community becomes in Utah, the more influence we can have over policy decisions in the state. The CWA is excited to reinforce the cumulative strength and influence of Utah climbers by joining the active community of public land and climbing access advocates in Utah.
What is the state of conservation and climbing access in Utah?
The state of Utah has a rich, if imperfect, history with its outdoor recreation economy. The state created the first-ever Office of Outdoor Recreation and built the highly successful “Mighty 5” National Park campaign that drives millions to the state to experience its splendor. In 2019, the largest wilderness protection in Utah in decades was enacted through the John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act. This was a major win for the climbing and conservation communities.
However, like most places across the Western United States, the management of public lands for multiple use makes a complicated relationship between recreation and extractive industries. The CWA recognizes Utah is no exception, and often acts against the interests of rock climbers and recreationists (for example, the Public Lands Initiative Act of 2016.)
In 2017, places like Bears Ears National Monument, which includes the world-famous Indian Creek Climbing Area, were downsized by the Trump administration in favor of mining. We invite you to stay informed on the latest updates on Bears Ears and many other climbing access issues by subscribing to the Access Fund newsletter.
How can I learn more and get involved with efforts to protect public lands and climbing access in Utah?
The advocacy community in Utah is extremely active, and the indoor climbing industry’s support can help make a difference.
These organizations have a direct impact on climbing access in Utah:
In addition, there are many general conservation organizations working in the state, including:
